What to see

La Rotonda di Badoere

The Rotonda di Badoere is one of the most famous “barchesse” buildings in Veneto. Its unique features lie in both its grandeur and its structure, which was made to house a series of shops in one semicircle and houses in the other, with a large square for the market. The square overlooks the church and a manor house, which is now the town hall. Structurally, the large construction is presented as a long semi-circular portico formed of 41 arches. This beautiful square presumably originated at the end of the seventeenth century, and in fact the noble Venetian family of the Badoere laid claim to numerous landed properties in the area from 1566 onwards.

Sile River Regional Natural Park

Badoere is an integral part of the Regional Natural Park of the Sile River. It extends over an area of 4,152 hectares that falls within 11 municipal territories distributed across the provinces of Padua, Treviso and Venice.

The area with springs is located between Casacorba di Vedelago (Treviso) and Torreselle di Piombino Dese (Padua), and gives rises to the longest resurgent river in Italy, which runs for approximately 70 km from Casacorba di Vedelago (Treviso) to Portegrandi di Quarto d’Altino (Venice), the natural mouth of the Venice Lagoon before the “Taglio del Sile” was excavated.

Since time immemorial, the area’s mild climate, the navigability of the waters, its proximity to the sea, the abundance of springs and the rich forests of the surrounding region (although similar, the landscape was not the same as it is today) have attracted populations to the Sile who then stopped along its banks.

Gran Bosco dei Fontanassi

Given how vast the Park area is, we suggest you visit the places of greater naturalistic interest that are easy to reach from us:

the Gran Bosco dei Fontanassi is where the springs from which the rainwater from the mountains and the underground branches of the Piave River spontaneously rise to the surface, thus forming the river course of the Sile.
